I have recently picked up the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. It may be the influence of the upcoming inauguration but I have been drawn to the histories and personalities of our forefathers. Something about their work ethic and high ideals act as nourishment to my brain and being.
So one of the reasons I am truely excited about this iPhone app is it’s silo effect. It is damn near impossible to send just a quick link, or video embed, so I am left naked, just me and my words. Did I mention Ben Franklin was a writer, not just of the quipy quotes found in poor richard’s almanac, bit also of pamplets that invited men to action, the kind of prose near extinct today. Back then they had clubs where thinkers would gather, and wits would sharpen wits. Farmers, physicians, librarians would gather and throw a topic in the arena and it lit flame to their discourse. I am on the hunt for such a place, and such people. There was an small morsal in the book, Socrates cafe. Maybe there is a place I can find, an arena to which I may throw my kindling.
As mentioned, no links, no videos, more me, for better or worse. More to follow.

Many a web designer has had that dreaded email from a client, subject line: pictures for the products page, widgets page, etc and seen one lone attachment in the form of a microsoft word file.

RE: do you have those images outside of word

signed, designer

RE: Why no, thats all we have and no budget to do other wise

signed, client

Draught!!!

designer, underbreath

–

so that is the exchange that happend to me as of recent and about a quarter into the images, doing save as from the right click menu it hit me. So instead of the tedious repeatition of ‘Save As’… ‘Save As’ …., I just saved the document as a web page and raided the ‘Images folder’, renaming documents kicks the crap out of save as, and bonus: the image quality and size was much better.

As I am often late to the party for those who know this trick excuse my ignorance, for those who don’t, well you are most welcome.

Take that ‘Save As’.
