How could you not like Van Halen videos when they made their debut on MTV (or anything by David Lee Roth - the videos were just what every high school male wanted to see, bikini clad women dancing for the camera) - Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" http://youtube.com/watch?v=aNaKWXqXkhw
The animation, considered very cool at the time, made it different. Knopfler on guitar and Sting singing background vocals made the video a classic. Peter Gabriel "Sledgehammer" http://youtube.com/watch?v=hqyc37aOqT0
Another use of animation that made the video memorable. The song may not have been one of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs, but the video was different compared to other music videos released during the same time. Sorry, one more honorable mention - Robert Palmer "Addicted to Love" http://youtube.com/watch?v=F0U5JfGYx4c Yes, it was considered by many a cliche video, but it is still copied by many videos/movies today. The red lips and short black dresses never leave your mind.
